Past Tense زمان گذشته

How we use "Past Tense" in the sentences:

1) Using "was" or "were"
(When we have "am", "is" or "are" in the sentence.)

Examples:
I am sick now. => I was sick yesterday.
We are at work now. => We weren't home two days ago.
Alex is present now. => He was absent last session.

2) Using "ed"
(When we don't have "am", "is" or "are" in the sentence.)

a) Regular verbs افعال باقاعده
b) Irregular verbs افعال بی قاعده

افعالِ این دسته وقتی "ed" میگیرند، "ed" در آنها مشخص و قابل مشاهده است. به همین دلیل به آنها "باقاعده" یا قانونمند میگویند.

walk => walked	talk => talked
clean => cleaned	call => called
watch => watched	play => played
wash => washed	brush => brushed
spell => spelled	smell => smelled
want => wanted	finish => finished
cough => coughed	smile => smiled
bake => baked	like => liked
practice => practiced	sneeze => sneezed
try => tried	cry => cried

Sentences:

I finished my homework last night.
Alex called his mother last Friday.
You wanted some money two days ago.
Nicole talked to her uncle 10 minutes ago.
The baby cried yesterday morning.

Negative:

I didn't brush my teeth last night.
Sarah didn't watch TV yesterday.
Jack didn't wash his hands this morning.
The baby didn't cry two nights ago.
We didn't bake a cake last Monday.

Yes/No Question:

Did you talk to Joe last night?
Yes, I did.

Did Jack cough yesterday?
No, he didn't.

Did Amy play volleyball last month?
Yes, she did.

Did your parents walk to home yesterday afternoon?
No, they didn't.

Did Nina call you two years ago?
No, she didn't.
