When do we use Present Perfect Tense?
1) Life Experience
Have you ever had an accident?
Yes, I have had an accident twice.
No, I have never had an accident.
2) already and yet in Present Perfect Tense
Examples:
- Has he arrived yet?
- I haven’t seen Susan yet.
- I have already came from school.
- They have just cooked dinner.
3) For and Since in the Present Perfect Tense
a) For + a period of time
for six years, for a week, for a month, for hours, for two hours
Examples:
- I have lived in Esfahan for 20 years. (I still live here)
- We have taught at this school for a long time.
- Alice has been married for three months.
b) Since + a point in time
since this morning, since last week, since yesterday
since I was a child, since Wednesday, since 2 o'clock
Examples:
- I have lived here since 1379.
- He has been at the hotel since last Tuesday. (He is still there)
- She hasn't smoked for weeks.
